Mac Tip - How to Import Photos into iPhoto

Make sure your camera is off.

Plug your camera into a USB port on the computer using the cable that came with the it. Turn the camera on.

A box should pop up stating iPhoto is Ready to import X number of items (however many photos are on your camera). Type a name for this “roll” of photos and a description of the pictures in this box.

Click on the Import button on lower right, and wait for the photos to be imported.

All your pictures should pop up in iPhoto momentarily! Take a look at the left side of the iPhoto screen, and notice the photoes were imported into the Library section. This is the main repository for all the photos you ever import into iPhoto. If you’ve imported other photos into the program before, you’ll see those here too.

However, you just imported a new "Film Roll," according to Apple lingo. Click on the Last Roll link on the left side of your screen to see only the photos you’ve just imported.

If you have photos on a CD, DVD, or a flash drive, you can easily import those into iPhoto as well. Simply drag the photos from the CD, DVD, or flash drive window into iPhoto’s Library window.
