How to Change the Default Line Spacing in Outlook 2007 to Single Space

Your lines in Microsoft Outlook mail may not be single-spaced. Here’s how to set line spacing to single space if that’s what you want:

  1. Go to your Inbox.
  2. Click on the New button in the upper left to start a new email.
  3. Click on the Format Text tab at the top of your screen.
  4. You’ll see the buttons are grayed out. Click in the big white box where you’d write the body of your email to activate them.
  5. Click on the dialog box in the Paragraph group. The dialog box is located in the lower right-hand corner of the group. It looks like a tiny arrow inside a square.
  6. In the section under “Spacing,” change the “Before” and “After” to zero.
  7. Change the Line Spacing to Single.
  8. Click on the Default button at the bottom of the box. You're now changing the line spacing permanently.
  9. Click OK in the box that pops up.
  10. Click OK to get out of the Paragraph dialog box.

Your text should be single-spaced from now on.
