Alleviating Unwanted Email -Tip of the Day

March 14, 2005

You shouldn't give your prized, primary email address out to just anyone. It should be restricted to family, friends, and others whom you truly want to receive email from.

But lots of times when you register on various sites, you're asked for your email address. What if you don't really want to give it out?

Give them your junk email address. This is a secondary address you hardly ever look at that has emails you hardly ever want.

Let's say your main email address is an AOL address. Or let's say it's an Earthlink address. You can create a second email address for free with either Yahoo!® Mail or the Gmail™ webmail service.

Go, for instance, to yahoo.com, click on the email link at the top, and sign up for a yahoo email address.

Now when you register for a site or go to buy something online, give them your Yahoo!® Mail address and you won't have to be bothered with annoying emails coming to your main email address! Just go to the Yahoo!® Mail email account once in a while, check it, and delete what you don't want (most of it, probably).
